Check Out My Big Ten Inch...

Cobblestone progress
... sweater for a man that's knit in blue ...

I've knit over half the length to the under arm, which is where you join the sleeves and things get exciting again. I'm really happy with the progess I'm making, I knit on this a little bit each day. Making hats in between has definitely helped with little bursts of instant gratification.

It's been tough working this 51" sweater on a 40" circular needle, but all is well now that I've gotten my new 47" cable from Knit Picks. Oddly enough, it came with 10 skeins of yarn as packing material. Weird.

It's kind of amazing how there always seem to be yarn in the shipments from Knitpicks. Even if you only needed a needle.

Hahahaha. OH man.

That's an awesome color for a cobblestone. I love that pattern. I think I need to make another- seeing yours made me remember how awesome it is.

That really is a great color!

Do you knit the garter hems a needle size down or two? i've been curious, i was worried about it flaring out.

It sounds like we're the same size (my sweaters are usually 52 inches) and i actually find it easier for me to knit on a 32inch circular, rather than a circular nearly the same size as my sweater circumference. it prevents issues in the yoke after joining the sleeves and you don't have to magic loop it for most of the yoke. by the time it's too small for a 32, you can usually squeeze it on a 16 until you've decreased down to the neckline. BUT! that's just me.

I'm excited to see the finish project! this is a great yarn for this sweater!

I did not knit the garter border on smaller needles. It is flaring out when I lay it out now, but I'm hoping a good blocking will fix that. If not, I suppose I can cut it off a re-knit.

I don't know how you could knit this beast on a 32" needle, 40" was hard enough for me. The yarn is pretty stiff right now (I could probably stand the body up on its own) so it was really hard on my hands with the small needle. I have plenty of cables though, so I'll change sizes as I decrease the yoke.

Wha Wha Whaaa? Aren't you cheeky.

Love the color!

It's so easy to try to go for the free shipping at Knit Picks. Lucky for me I have a couple of knitters at work who will bundle orders with me sometimes.
